The super powers of Lotus plant-
We all love wealth and we know that the godess of wealth, Lakshmi, sits in the Lotus flower. Lotus has spiritual, midicinal, economical importance. Lotus is the National Flower of India. It's seeds are super food and root is consumed as vegetable.
Let's see it's super powers....
1. Lotus ia a perineal aquatic plant. It can assimilate nitrogen and phosphorus more efficiently , thus creating better environment for good bacteria.
2. Lotus can remove heavy metals, arsenic, copper, cadmium through rhizofiltration. (A process of filtering ground water /waste water etc by a mass of roots.)
3. The lotus has the remarkable ability to regulate the temperature of its flowers to about 30- 35 ⁰C like that of warm blooded animals. This may be to attract cold blooded insect polinaters.
4. The lotus seeds may remain viable for germination for more than 1000 years and can survive long droughts. So it's a symbol of longitivity.
5. The leaves of floating Lotus plant, reduce the sunlight reaching the water, thus thriving algae for sunlight and algal growth is supressed. So the oxygen content in the water is 20% higher than other aquatic plant system.
6. Lotus seeds are rich in variety of essential amino acids and is a source of high quality protein. They also contain unsaturated fatty acids, calsium, iorn, Zink etc. The seed are consumed in many forms.
7. Because lotuses rise from mud without stains, they are viewed as a symbol of purity.
